Therapy is definitely an investment—both in yourself and in a trustworthy person who can guide the process effectively.  Through weekly or every other week appointments we’ll identify the goals that you want to achieve.  Then each session I’ll assist you with uncovering the parts of yourself that can help you reach those goals.

Cancellation Policy

Therapy works best when it’s met with consistency, so to encourage forward movement I have a no-cancellation policy.  This means you will have a set day/time each week (or every other week) and are responsible for payment whether of not you attend the session.  You can reschedule a “make-up” session if requested at least 14 days in advance of the scheduled appointment and if we can reschedule the appointment during the week previous, same week or week after.

Insurance

I am considered an Out-of-Network provider, which means that I do not accept insurance directly.  If you would like to utilize your out-of-network benefits, you would pay for the appointment at the time of your session and then I provide you with a detailed receipt for reimbursement that you can submit directly to your insurance.

Questions to ask your insurance when inquiring about out-of-network benefits:

·        Do I have out-of-network benefits for mental health services provided via telehealth?

·        What is my yearly deductible?  Has it been met?

·        What is the maximum reimbursement amount for the year?

·        How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?

·        How much does my insurance plan reimburse for an out-of-network provider?

·        How do I submit receipts for reimbursement?

Session Frequency and Treatment Length

My preference is to work with clients on a weekly basis. I find that this consistency helps to build the therapeutic relationship, encourages treatment momentum, and brings improved outcomes. Of course, schedules and life circumstances (vacations, illness, etc.) might affect meeting weekly from time to time. Occasionally, people may attend therapy more often (twice weekly) for a period of time, such as during crises.

As we notice progress towards therapy goals and symptom reduction, we collaborate to determine when meeting less frequently (such as biweekly) would be suitable.

Mental health differs from medical treatment in terms of ability to predict treatment duration. How long a person needs to engage in therapy varies, as each individual’s therapy journey is unique. I work together with clients to determine when their goals have been met and they are ready to move on.
